Hard Candy Insta Pout Lip Melt Review & Swatches

Hard Candy Insta Pout Lip Melt ($6.96) is a new shiny hybrid lipstick/lip balm that provides beautiful, shiny color to lips while giving them a full appearance. I purchased these recently on a blindbuy as I hadn’t heard about them or seen any reviews across social media on them at all. Stupidly I only got two shades! There are six available and I absolutely need to go back and get all the shades (and possibly backup as well) because they are a YOU NEED this kind of lipstick buy.

Hard Candy is notorious for releasing some incredible lip products that seem to disappear too quickly! I’m still mourning the loss of Cashmere Silk Demi-Matte Creme Lip Colour which is making me want to hoard away a ton more Insta Pout Lip Melts for fear they’ll disappear off shelves! I LOVE this formula. It’s perfection. It’s exactly what I want from a lip product! In some ways, it’s a more affordable version of YSL Candy Glaze Lip Gloss Stick, Tarte Maracuja Juicy Lip Balms, and MAC’s new Squirt Plumping Lip Gloss Stick!

I absolutely love everything about this little lipstick but there is one thing that bugs me. The price, the formula, the pigment, all amazing! But sadly, the packaging is a little tricky. I can swivel up but not down. It’s a little frustrating! Apparently, this is because it gives you the perfect amount when you swivel it up but I find I don’t always use that total amount and it can be tedious replacing the cap on a lipstick that’s a bit swiveled up. Aside from that, the rest is awesome and I’m 100% willing to overlook this minor flaw because this formula is outstanding. It’s award winning material! Each one is 0.08 oz in size so, it’s a fairly smallish bit size. They come housed in a pink plastic barrel with the Hard Candy emblem on the side.

I would liken it most to MAC’s Squirt Plumping Lipgloss. It’s super soft, super melt-y on contact with lips, and gives beautiful shine and color. I’m talking vinyl-like shine! This is exactly the glossiness I want from ALL my lip products. The high-shine finish is amazing. And let’s not forget these are damn pigmented as well. I didn’t expect that at all since Hard Candy kept referring to them as a “balm” but the color pay off is that of a very nice medium coverage lipstick. You’re getting all the amazingness of a hydrating lip balm, the color of a lipstick, and the shine of a lipgloss without the stickiness or tackiness! They provide color, they provide shine, and they feel super moisturizing on my lips. They apply quite literally like melted butter and don’t travel outside my lip lines either so no migration with this melty formula! They wear for about three to four hours and during that time maintain a good bit of the shine!

I can’t rave these enough! I would say RUN RUN to Walmart to grab some before they suddenly go viral and disappear from shelves. A big Muse Approval for Hard Candy Insta Pout Lip Melt!
