Sephora Cake and Bake Liquid and Powder Makeup Sponge and a Story About Mug Cake!

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

I saw the new Sephora Cake and Bake Liquid and Powder Makeup Sponge and for some reason the Easy Bake Oven came to mind. I think I’m just thinking of cake at the moment that could be why. By the way, as much as I love the Great British Bake Off I can’t bake worth a damn (it was mentioned in last week’s Supernatural episode and I squee’ed a little hearing that!). So, recently I saw Duncan Hines Mug Cake Mixes at Target and I was like, “Bitch, please I can work a microwave so, I can totally bake a cake!” Not so much. My mug cake came out soggy. I swear to the cake gods (if there are any) that I measured the water accurately but still I got soggy a$$ cake. Listen, you only have to rip the envelope open, dump the cake mix in a mug, and add 1/4 cup of water to it. Stir it, stick it in the microwave, and apparently you’ll be magically gifted with a moist, fluffy cake in minutes.

Now, I happen to be Microwave Marge. I’m pretty handy with a microwave, just don’t ask me to cook anything because I burn boiling water. But obviously, in this situation, it was again reinforced that I am not a baker nor will I ever be one especially if I couldn’t handle making a simple one ingredient mug cake. I had somewhat of a emotional moment when it came out of the microwave oven because I thought it was going to be so good. Not to mention at the time I was on a long distance call with my x-boyfriend and he said, “Bells, why do you even try to cook ANYTHING?? You’re going to hurt yourself!” And can I tell you, to add insult to injury and salt to my open and raw wound, my best friend happened to pull out the mix last week and was like, “OH WOW! Is this mug cake? Can I try one?” And I was all like, “Don’t! They come out horrible!” And he was all, “No worries, I’ll eat anything!” (don’t I know it! He inhales everything!) and of course, he whips up a fluffy freaking mug cake.

WTF! My cooking life sucks it hard!

So, here’s the deal if I can’t bake a cake, I can’t, bake my makeup. Nor will I try with my dry as hell skin! Sephora’s a little late with their Cake and Bake Liquid and Powder Makeup Sponge but as they say better than never. They created this sponge exclusively for baking your foundation with two sharp, flat edges that make it idea for packing on full-coverage makeup and baking it.

As for me?

I’ll avoid baking cakes and baking makeup.

Sephora Cake and Bake Liquid and Powder Makeup Sponge available now at Sephora.com.

I Find Myself Tempted by MAC Metallic Lipstick

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

Beauty confession, I’m not a fan of metallic lipstick or lipglosses but I find myself tempted by MAC Metallic Lipstick. I always look like Mr Roboto in metallics. They just look frosty and I never get that liquid metal finish I’m looking for. It’s ALWAYS the case with lipsticks, lipglosses, and even eyeshadows that are metallic. The formula looks really frosty on me. My solution? Clear lipgloss! If you apply clear lipgloss over metallics it looks a lot less more wearable. As for eyeshadows, try applying a matte color wash and use a little of the metallic shade blended on outer eye area. Check my Colourpop Muse Super Shock Shadow Review and you’ll see what I mean! Metallics become much more easier to wear with a little matte eyeshadow help.

Break for a little Styx?

I just gave you an ear worm with that right?

Back to MAC Metallic Lipstick though!

NYX Pin-Up Pout Lipstick Review & Swatches

I purchased this item and I receive a small commission if you shop using the links in this post.

NYX Pin-Up Pout Lipstick ($7.99) is one of NYX’s new Spring launches and a permanent collection of creamy lipsticks that’s available in a slew of different shades. That’s the thing about NYX, they never go small when releasing a new product. I think there’s like 30 shades of this available right now. Gotta love variety.

NYX Pin-Up Pout Lipstick, as per the name, is inspired by vintage glam girls from the past. A retro rouge lipstick that’s super pigmented and has gorgeous coverage. I was slightly skeptical of the release because NYX already has several lipstick formulas in rotation and I questioned what more they could possibly do with a formula. I wouldn’t say Pin-Up Pout Lipstick is groundbreaking by any means but it hits a certain beauty budget’s sweet spot with a formula that packs in pigment and while not killing your bank account.

Physicians Formula Bronze Booster Highlight & Contour Palette Review & Swatches

I purchased this item and I receive a small commission if you shop using the links in this post.

Physicians Formula Bronze Booster Highlight & Contour Palette ($14.99) in Shimmer Strobing is one of two new highlighting and/or contouring palettes that released a few months ago for Spring 2017. If you’re glancing at my photo of the palette and have a tiny case of deja vu that would be because this palette resembles Becca x Jaclyn Hill Highlighting Palette that came with three shades of Shimmering Skin Perfector. Mmm, Physicians Formula does so take a nod from that palette with the shades in this palette that resemble Becca’s Blushed Copper, Pearl, and Champagne Pop Shimmering Skin Perfectors.

There’s also another version of this palette available which contains all matte shades so, buying both isn’t entirely a waste as one you can use to highlighter with and the other you can use the contour with. I only picked up the shimmering highlighter trio though as I’m not much of a contouring girl.

Lancome Matte Shaker High Pigment Liquid Lipstick Arrives

Lancome Matte Shaker High Pigment Liquid Lipstick are a new take on Lancome’s Juicy Shaker that launched last year. Remember those? How can you forget the little cocktail shaped bi-phase formula right?

But, of course, it only makes sense to cash in on the success of Juicy Shakers and introduce them in a more pigmented and matte formula. Although, they were actually a little hyped up for me so, maybe this new version might tickle my fancy!.
