Hourglass Curator Eyeshadow is a new collection of single shade eyeshadows launching with the Hourglass Fall 2021 Collection and I have to say they are making me shiver in joy! This is a major releases for Hourglass who really hasn’t dabbled in single eyeshadows like this before unless of course, you count Scattered Light Glitter Eyeshadow (which I don’t).

I have been waiting for the return of single eyeshadows to the makeup world for a very long, long time and I’m relieved to see Hourglass actually taking note of what we all want. I’m tired of palettes and I’d like to just sit down and pick a shade or two that I wanted versus having fifty of them shoved at me in one compact. Not only is this an exciting released but I have hopes more brands will take note and start doing single shades again. I do have my doubts that would happen as I did think we’d see some eyeshadow index movement with COVID and mask mandates but it never really happened which makes me less of a believer we’ll suddenly have a bunch of single eyeshadows launching from different brands come Fall 2021.

But hey, at least Hourglass made this effort and I appreciate it greatly. I also think it’s a long overdue launch for them as they do favor their highlighter palettes and when they have ventured into the world of eyeshadow it’s always been in palette format.

These single shades look like they’ll be available in a variety of finishes and shades. I do hope we’ll get a nice silky formula. Some of the mattes in the promo image look lovely.

Well hello there!

How’s everyone doing today?

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Preview went live today. Excited? I see a few things I want but the sale simply isn’t what it used to be. I feel very validated when I say that because many of you agree but also, a lot of the sales reps that I regularly use constantly say the same thing. It’s just not as grand as it once was. I remember when the sale used to have really cool gift sets not to mention early Fall launches. Not to mention an entire MAC Color Story! It’s not really that great anymore….! But I think one of the better things to come out of the sale lately is the fact it’s actually a SALE! You can snag a lot of good deals on luxury goods where as years ago nothing was technically on sale. There’s an upside and positive thing about the sale.

Dude…dude…dude…those plant-based pork rinds from Trader Joe’s are the bomb dot com. Serious question, do the kids still say bomb dot com or should I start saying bussin’? Haha…! All seriousness, we eat so much weird plant-based food in this house I told my boyfriend we’re going to start sprouting leaves. I’m not a big fan but Mr Universe aka the boyfriend is all about the healthy foodies and snackies. I purchased those Pig Out Pork Rinds months ago and ugh! They are sitting in the pantry dying a long and horrible expiration death. We didn’t like them at all. I was at Trader Joe’s recently and I saw their new Spicy Porkless Plant Based Snack Rinds and I was like ok, let me try these because Tiktok told me I need them. I wasn’t going to buy them to be honest but the Internet makes me do dumb things. I hauled a bag and I ate one piece and instantly disliked it. It wasn’t spicy but more vinegar-like. But after that I took another and another turned into another and one more and before you know it I think I ate the bag in like two days…!

They are odd. They sort of remind me of the Trader Joe’s Lentil Chips but have the consistency of a real pork rind. After eating several handfuls I realized why I liked them! They kind of sort of remind me of eating a spicy and pickled onion Monster Munch together at the same time.

Honestly, no one is going to thank me for making me buy them as I think most people won’t like them. My boyfriend was revolted by them! But I’m all about them.

I need validation. Are these as good as I think they are or was I just really hungry when I ate them!

You know what….let’s dedicate a little of today’s love list to being yourself. I was talking to one of the greatest friends I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know on the Internet. Say what you want but Internet friends are just as amazing as real ones and this girl…she’s chefs kiss! I love her to the moon and back. Anyway, we got on an important topic of being yourself. Don’t ask how we got there because I dunno if it’s important but the moral of this story is be yourself and don’t apologize for being yourself. Lately, I’ve had this odd feeling I needed to rein in my silly good nature. Somehow, someway, I think I thought I was offending certain people with my dorkiness and my silliness. And I hated that for myself. I hated to think that I was somehow crossing some line without knowing where the line was drawn. And suddenly, I found that I was sorry about just being me. And that’s not a good feeling. I guess what I’m trying to say is don’t make excuses or apologies for being yourself. You’re awesome just the way you are. Don’t let your mind and your heart convince you otherwise. And if you come across people that might make you feel this way just breath, take a step back from them, and look at the situation a little closer. I know if you do you’ll see that you’re a good human and you’re pretty darn brilliant just the way you are!

With the Clarisonic gone and so few good options available we may have to resort to manual cleansing brushes once again! I grabbed up the Sephora Makeup Remover and Cleansing Vegan Brush recently and I regret nothing.

This little gadget set me back a mere $12 and it’s a rather nice manual cleansing brush. I’ve used a variety of manual brushes over the years and of course, little silicone pads which I love. With Clarisonic soon disappearing and me over here running low on replacement brushes I needed to find something else to use to wash my face. Sure, hands are plenty but sometimes I feel like a brush gets my face extra clean. I haven’t yet found a cleansing brush that replaced the Clarisonic! I love my Foreo well enough but I prefer a brush.

This fits the bill perfectly for me. It has a nice long handle with soft bristles and a center that’s silicone making for a good target to squeeze your cleanser into! There’s absolutely nothing special about it but I love how the handle is a bit bigger making it easy to move around my face. I also feel like it gives me a nice deep cleanse.

So, if you’re missing your Clarisonic and just need a nice little brush to clean you race with this Sephora Makeup Remover and Cleansing Vegan Brush might fit the bill!

Ugh! Cheek Pops are my favorite blush! Seriously, they override my love of Amazonian Clay Blush! I just adore these and own all the shades. I’m sort of hopeful that the sale they are currently having on them means that new shades might be launching for Fall 2021.
