Covergirl Katy Kat Matte Lipstick (Review)
Creamy, dreamy, super pigmented these easy glide lipsticks from Covergirl were one of the best drugstore lipsticks this Muse has tried in a while. The color range isn’t anything to write home about but shades like Catoure and Crimson Cat are keepers.

E.L.F. Beautifully Bare 3-in-1 Makeup Base (Review)
This happens to be one of my favorite primers at the moment. Thick, rich, yet easily absorbed it creates a beautifully soft and hydrated base for foundation to adhere and yes, it does blur pores every so slightly as the visible ones on my nose disappear whenever I use this!

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I totally agree with your assessment of the Color Jolt melted lipsticks, I think the one i own is called “red-dy or not”, and the pigment just blows my mind! I want to get the purple-ish one for fall. I’ve walked by the Katy Perry matte lipsticks soooo many times, it’s always such a gamble with drugstore (and sometimes even high end) lipsticks! I really like the Cature shade and will be grabbing it the next time I’m in walgreens.

    • Isabella Muse

likewise! they were a very nice treat! I think Maybelline did a great job with the formula! If anything at all they are even better than Too Faced’s version! I agree as well, lipsticks at the ds for me are hit or miss! I really enjoyed these though, Covergirl is normally not my go to for lipstick but these were fab! Let me know if you try!

Thank you…my budget is smiling. Will print this list & get to stores. Your posts are so terrific. Do we love the Muse? Yes, we do!!! I am ready for Fall also. Elaine G

Love Maybellines Loaded Lipsticks and Wet n Wilds mascara Max Volume Plus!

  • Quinctia

I agree with the Katy Perry mattes not being too interesting in the shade selection, but I just had to pick up Kitty Purry. I’ve thought it was hilarious that her cat was named that since the first time I heard it.

  • Scy

Thank you for this list! Muse-approval definitely helps when I’m deciding on what to buy!

I recently picked up a couple Loreal Color Riche eye shadow singles, and they are fabulous! Creamy to the touch but stay on all day. I have been using them instead of my Color Tattoos.

    • Isabella Muse

yay! Happy to hear it Bonnie 😀 isn’t it great when you find a cheap but awesome formula at the drugstore!?

I have the Neutrogena healthy skin.. I like it for this summer.. But, my skin is dry and I have added a drop of Josie Maran’s SPF Protect and perfect moisturizer to it and it was a perfect mix.. Maran’s Spf is dark for me as I am porcelain and the summer has darkened me just a little. since I bought the NHS earlier in the summer. It gives me a perfect color and moisture to the NHS product.. I have been using it most of the summer with good results..and a good way to use up the Maran product because I could not use it alone..

I’m going to pick up that Maybelline shine stuff. That way I can use the nice colors that only come in mattes but not have them look like I’ve glued felt lips to my face!

  • Sandy Smith

Thanks for all the great new recommendations! The only ones I have tried are the Jordana liquid eye shadows. Super pretty, but didn’t work for me. After a few hours quite a lot of sparkle fallout all down my face would occur. But I am excited to try some of these.

    • Isabella Muse

oh no really? I didn’t have any problems! I loved them! 😀 My pleasure let me know if you try anything else would love to hear your thoughts!

Milani lipsticks are my all time favourites – I now own a stack of shades: Tuscan Toast (russet red), Cinnamon Spice, Candied Toffee and Bronze Beauty – all in duplicates too. I never want to run out.
Love the Wet n Wild Coloricon Comfort Zone palette too. That dupe for UD Lounge makes it worthwhile and the price is fabulous for the quality.
Those Jordana liquid eye shadows look beautiful. Not too shiny, but just enough omph to make your eyes look good.
Thanks for the review Isabella. These are great products.

  • Constant Lurker

I have the Katy Kat shade in Cature. I don’t care much for Covergirl lipsticks but I was surprised to actually like this formula. I’ve been loving the newish Wet n’ Wild felt tip liquid liner pens. They remind me of the Kat Von D liners.

    • Isabella Muse

I haven’t seen those Constant Lurker! WetnWild does surprise with some of their offerings sometimes 😀
