Sol de Janeiro When in Rio Perfume Mist ($24) is one of three new, limited edition fragrances that launched for Summer 2023. And of course, being obsessed with Sol de Janeiro I went and purchased all three of them at sephora.com as soon as I saw they were available.

This isn’t the first time that Sol de Janeiro has thrown us some limited edition blends! They did a Summer 2022 Collection that featured three fragrances which were called Tan Lines, Tropical Nights, and Sea & Sol. Tan Lines was renamed Rio Radiance for Spring 2023 and is now a permanent part of the Sol De Janeiro Collection and available in a Perfume Mist and a Body Cream!

I love these LE launches but if I could possibly change one thing it would be to include a body cream. I would absolutely love a gift set with the mist and matching body cream or heck, even if they want to do a limited edition round of matching body creams I’d be up for that too! My body chemistry does not like the Sol de Janeiro Perfume Mist formula. It just wears a really, really short time.  But when I wear their body cream and the perfume mist I can get it to stay a heck of a lot longer. Please Sol de Janeiro, if you’re listening, do some body creams too!

Sol de Janeiro When in Rio Perfume Mist is available in a 3.04 oz bottle for $24. This is a smaller mist compared to the larger 8.01 oz bottles that are $38. I’d rather have a larger bottle available considering it’s available for such a short time. I was surprised these didn’t disappear in a flash which makes it easier for me to grab another bottle if I end up falling deeper in love! All three are very much still available whereas last year they sold out quickly and weren’t restocked. But I think it’s all about time and season. I dunno about you but New York is still cold and rainy with no warm weather in sight. The original Summer 2022 Collection launched in June last year which means this round of scents arrived pretty early in comparison. The beauty world might not be on tropical scent mode quite yet which could account for the in stock status (and the unusually cold weather some of us are still getting!).

When in Rio Perfume is the warm floral of the trio of scents with notes of pear, bergamot, twilight jasmine, and vanilla amber. I thought the vanilla amber would overpower this scent and make it into a warm, cuddly fragrance but it’s honestly barely noticeable to my nose. I get the very pretty and slightly sweet pear through the entire blend which is enwrapped in a pretty blanket of jasmine and bergamot. At first spray, it almost smells like an exotic tropical ice tea but it settles onto my skin with a sweet, slightly fruity dry down that’s wrapped up tight with a warm delicate touch of the bergamot and exotic jasmine.

It’s very pretty and a bit different for Sol de Janeiro. If you like warm florals with sweet touches I think you’ll get on just fine with When in Rio!
