Summer Makeup and Beauty Haul from Walmart

I was compensated by a brand or company but all thoughts and opinions are my own and I receive a small commission if you shop using the links in this post.

Last month, I partnered with Walmart to bring a selection of My Beauty and Makeup Essentials to you. At the time they asked me to partner and collaborate with them to tell my readers about their “Here for Every Beauty” campaign that celebrates over 327 different million faces that make up America. This is a paid sponsorship with them however, the thoughts and opinion I’m sharing are all my own. I selected to do the campaign because I truly believe that beauty is all inclusive and I’m happy to support a brand or in this case a store that also, feels that way.

I’ve always be of the belief that makeup and beauty is about all races, all sexes, ages, and sizes. Beauty is a world I’ve always felt comfortable and welcome in even though much of the marketing isn’t exactly targeted towards me. Why not? Because I’m short, I’m round, I’m geeky, goofy, clumsy, and just an all around nerd (I also think I’m rather hysterical but I’m probably not!). I’m not a model, I’m not 110 pounds, I don’t have cheek bones for days, I am not perfect yet I’m still felt pretty at home in the world of makeup because I can be whoever I want to be in it. I’ve never felt limited to how I can express myself using makeup and I like that the industry is finally catching up and starting to target people just like me.

The beauty world should never hinder any of us or make us feel excluded. It’s somewhere I feel like we can all dive into and enjoy no matter who we are. I’m glad that in the last few years, that the beauty world has opened further for many of us. More foundation choices, more models that aren’t perfect advertising products, both woman and man being represented in marketing, it really is a new and better frontier than ever before.

This is why I really love that Walmart is promoting a better makeup world with their Here for Every Beauty campaign. Because we should all feel positive and supported in the beauty world no matter who we are.

I did a recent Summer Makeup and Beauty Haul at Walmart and I thought I’d try some new items. Gasp! New!? What? Something I never tried before? How is that even possible for a beauty junkie? Believe me it was actually pretty easy to discover a few items I haven’t yet tried by following the #HereForEveryBeauty tag on Instagram. I just starting browsing the hashtag and seeing what everyone else was loving and I was surprised to see how many products people featured that I never tried. So, I made it my mission to not head into this haul purchasing stuff I already tried. I went outside my comfort zone and decided I try stuff I never thought to try before like dry shampoo. Believe me I typically wouldn’t touch dry shampoo with a ten foot pole because I’m that girl that has to wash her hair everyday even though that’s against some sort of hair rules. Sorry! I don’t feel clean if I don’t wash my hair everyday! Eep! But yup, I decided this Summer would be the Summer I tried dry shampoo!

Let’s see what I hauled!

Maybelline Dream Urban Cover Full Coverage Foundation SPF 50 Review & Swatches

I purchased this item and I receive a small commission if you shop using the links in this post.
3 stars out of 5

Maybelline Dream Urban Cover Full Coverage Foundation SPF 50 ($12.99) is the brand’s latest contribution to the world of foundation with a formula that has a built-in SPF 50 and promises full-coverage with a lightweight texture that’s natural looking and protects against harmful environmental aggressors.

I actually wasn’t too interested in this when it originally launched because packaging is everything. And this packaging reminded me of just about every single Maybelline Foundation that’s launched in the last year or so. The squeeze bottle is sort of their go-to packaging lately and it throws me off slightly because I see it and I’m like, “Eh how much different is this from the last foundation they launched?” Perhaps it’s my twisted logical but that’s why I didn’t buy it when it launched a few months ago.

I’m glad some part of me decided to pick it up though as I really like this. But guess what? A lot of people won’t because it’s not exactly the formula they market it as.

E.L.F. Jelly Pop Watermelon Cleanser Review & Swatches

I purchased this item and I receive a small commission if you shop using the links in this post.
4 stars out of 5

E.L.F. Jelly Pop Watermelon Cleanser ($8) is a new watermeon-infused gel cleanser that launched with the E.L.F. Cosmetics Jelly Pop Collection for Summer 2019 recently.

This is a fun collection and really appealing for hot Summer days. The packaging is bright and fun and the promise of watermelon scented skincare might be appealing due to the warm weather. It’s one of those playful collections that many influencers and gurus will have a blast Instagramming.

I’ve become a little more reserved with my skincare purchases lately. I guess with age you really do gain experience. I find myself checking over ingredients and although, I don’t always make perfect skincare purchases I do feel like I’ve improved considerably over the years and I’m not buying things just because marketing convinced me I need it. Of course, E.L.F. Jelly Pop Watermelon Cleanser was one of those purchases I made without really researching. It’s just a fun product and I found it very appealing because it has a certain K-Beauty feel and you know I love my Korean makeup and skincare.
