A Trip To Paris Was All It Took To Find Guerlain Shalimar Souffle de Lumiere

5 stars out of 5

Guerlain Shalimar de Lumiere is a new limited edition variation on one of the brand’s most beloved fragrances, Shalimar. Over the the last three years, there have been two different Souffle perfumes I know of one of which was the original Guerlain Souffle de Parfum which was released in a few different bottles since 2014 and one Souffle Intense that launched last year. There are subtle differences with each year this releases in my opinion but nothing that would be terribly noticeable to an untrained nose like my own. However, this year I was quite delighted to hear that Guerlain was going a little lighter with their next Souffle scent that was inspired by jasmine.

You see, as much as I love Shalimar it is a pretty intense floriental and actually when Guerlain goes a little lighter with it! To me the perfect blend of Shalimar comes in the form of Parfum Initial which is a lighter version of the original juice with quite a powdery, sultry variation. I had hopes Shalimar Souffle de Lumiere would be just as light and sexy as that juice.

Finding Guerlain Shalimar Souffle de Lumiere was a little challenging as it wasn’t available in the US when it initially released and still isn’t. I was able to get a bottle several weeks ago on my trip to Paris but I have good news! Guerlain has the updated their US site with a photo and description of Shalimar Souffle de Lumiere which could mean we’ll see this very soon in the US.

Maybelline Facestudio Master Blur Stick Primer Review

Maybelline Facestudio Master Blur Stick Primer ($7.99) is a new facial primer stick that’s available in three shades selections a la Milk’s popular Blur Stick that launched last Summer.

The Master Blur Stick Primer I’m about to review is the transparent version but Maybelline also has a Light/Medium and Medium/Dark version available which I’ll review shortly. The transparent version is a fairly common item we’ve seen in the past from products like E.L.F. Prep & Blur Stick, Catrice Prime and Fine Anti-Shine Blur Stick, and Milani Instant Touch-Up Blur Stick. The idea isn’t new by any means however, what sets this apart slightly from the regular round up of facial primer sticks is the fact there are tinted options available.

In some ways you have to get excited about a product like this. I mean, it’s a primer in a stick! It’s not only kind of cute but also so convenient for travel plus the application is mess-free. You have to love that. But in my experience not all primer sticks work out all that great. The formula are sometimes to dense or they drag across skin in a rather unpleasant way.

Let’s see how Maybelline Facestudio Master Blur Stick Primer held up!

Maybelline Molten Peach Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter Not for the Heavy-Handed

Maybelline Molten Peach Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter review swatches

I’m pretty sure after using Maybelline Molten Peach Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter you could see my highlighter from outer space but for once I didn’t care. This gorgeous golden orange-y peach holds a spot of honor in my makeup collection. And let’s be honest, that’s saying something right? I’m not really a highlighter type of girl. I love sparkly, shimmer, glow-y blushes but highlighters don’t really do it for me. I realize that I have a fuller face and sometimes highlighters accentuate all the bad things about that versus bring out the good. So, as pretty as they are I tend to avoid using them.

Another reason I avoid using them is the fact I am so heavy-handed. I can’t apply blush without going full on clown activation mode. You can imagine how happy I get with highlighter! I just can’t get down the right amount to look subtly glow-y. Instead I end up with see me from the moon highlighter.

I can’t say I’m minding all that much with Maybelline Molten Peach Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter. It is so stunning!
