The best six dollars I ever spent in my life was on Hard Candy Sheer Envy Bake, Brighten & Set Loose Finishing Powder. I had no idea Hard Candy had a banana powder available until recently when I was procrastinating and Hard Candy posted a photo of it on Instagram. I knew Hard Candy was getting into the color correcting trend this season with a host of cream concealers and others dodads but I hadn’t heard about the Sheer Envy Bake, Brighten & Set Loose Finishing Powder.

Now I happen to be a massive fan of Skin Food’s Salmon Dark Circle Powder which is long gone but not forgotten. I’ve found some great replacements for it like Ben Nye’s Banana Powder, Kat Von D’s new Kat Von D Lock-It Brightening Powder, Vincent Longo Banana Powder, and of course, Besame Brightening Vanilla Face Powder. I recently tried Makeup Revolution Luxury Banana Powder and was so excited at the prospects of a budget friendly brightening powder but sadly, it was kind of a bust.

Needless to say I was a little skeptical about a six dollar brightening powder but I am beyond happy to report this was fabulous.

Hard Candy Wet Ever Bold Hold Lip Lacquer ($6) is a new and brilliantly pigmented lipgloss that’s available in several shades for the Summer 2017 season. Hard Candy has launched a few variations of these lip tints over the last year or so including Hard Candy Velvet Mousse Matte Lip Color that I reviewed several months ago.

So, it’s not secret that I love lipgloss. I actually prefer it over lipstick because it’s easier to touch up, it feels hydrating on my drier lips, and I love shine. A match made in heaven right? But a lot of lipglosses are pretty sheer and lacking in the pigment department which is why I’m always excited to run across products like Hard Candy Wet Ever Bold Hold Lip Lacquer which not only get me the shine finish I love but also pack plenty of pigment.

And did I mention they are a mere six bucks?

I have a crazy soft spot in my heart for shimmering translucent powder and Urban Decay Naked Skin The Illuminizer Translucent Pressed Beauty Powder ($34) fits the bill perfectly. This new pressed powder gives skin a subtle radiance without being too over the top.

You know me, I’m a hot mess with highlighting, strobing, and all these crazy glow-y powders that launch every single day. But a soft, silky translucent powder with a hint of shimmer? I can get on board with that. Several years ago, Chanel Poudre Universelle Compacte Natural Finish Pressed Powder Jasmin was totally my thing. I hit pan on that which is a rare occurrence. It was such a delightful powder with the faintest golden shimmer in the mix. As much as I love shimmer, I’m not keen on having a face full of it. But I do so love just a hint of it and that’s exactly what powders like Urban Decay Naked Skin The Illuminizer Translucent Pressed Beauty Powder give us.
