Covergirl Revolution Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches

5 stars out of 5

Covergirl Revolution Eyeshadow Palette ($14.98) is one of four, new, limited edition 12-pan eyeshadow palettes that launched with the Covergirl My Majesty Collection which is available exclusively available at Walmart and Walmart.com. These palettes launched mid-April and to me they are sort of a nod to Game of Thrones especially the Revolution Palette that looks like it has a dragon theme going on with fiery shades of red and gold. Take what you will from it but to me it seems like these launched to coincide with Game of Thrones Season 8.

I’ve already reviewed the Covergirl Reign Eyeshadow Palette which is had a few more jewel tones compared to the Revolution Palette. Revolution is all about the fiery shades of gold, red, and cranberry! It’ll prove a really nice selection for Summer looks! The shades do have a King’s Landing feel from the Urban Decay Game of Thrones Eyeshadow Palette but aren’t dupes! Just the theme of reds and golds are along the same lines.

Let’s take a look at my review and swatches.

The Covergirl Revolution Eyeshadow Palette comes housed in a sturdy cardboard box featuring a smoky red design on the cover with a black border. The palette is $14.98, holds 12 shades, and is 0.22 oz in total size. That’s not a lot of eyeshadow overall for the price as the Covergirl TruNaked Eyeshadow palettes have less shades but are larger at 0.23 oz and cheaper for $11.99 (or as low as $7.29 at Target). The palette is made in Canada.

The eyeshadows wells are mismatched in size which drives me a little batty but I guess they are pointing out that the smaller wells are liner colors. However, I admit to using the smaller shades as eyeshadow. It feels like the shades are paired into trios with two of the larger wells representing the lid and crease shade and the smaller the line but as I said I’ve been mixing and matching them in all different ways.

If you enjoy the original line of Covergirl TruNaked Eyeshadow Palettes or the more recent launched like the Peach Punch and Chocoholic Eyeshadow Palette you’ll love this palette. The eyeshadows have a soft hybrid texture that has a creamy, satiny feel. If you’ve used Japanese eyeshadows from brands like KATE these eyeshadows are similarly formulated and have a texture just like ones you’d find from a variety of Japanese brands. Not everyone loves this formula but I do. I thought the shades were pigmented, easy to blend, and worked well together. I did struggle a little with the shade Exposed which is a matte with micro glitter. It was drier and applied patchier! It’s best used as an eyeliner shade in my opinion as it applies and blends poorly all over the lid. Aside from that all the other shades were great. The mattes are soft and silky and the shimmers are velvety smooth. I did have some fall out with some of the shades but nothing dramatic.

Covergirl Revolution Eyeshadow Palette Swatches (Commoton, Legend, Exposed, Ruthless)

Covergirl Revolution Eyeshadow Palette Swatches (Secret Password, Soot & Sparkle, Bare It All, Dare)

I also really love the color scheme here. The cranberry and the gold create such a great sunset eye look!

All in all another fantastic eyeshadow palette from the Covergirl My Majesty Collection.

Covergirl Revolution Eyeshadow Palette is a new, limited edition eyeshadow palette that’s $14, contains 12 eyeshadows, and is available exclusively at Walmart. This palette is made in Canada. I really enjoyed this palette the shades have a gorgeous sunset theme with fiery reds, cranberries, and golds to create a great sunset eye look! The mattes are soft and silky and the shimmer shades have a velvety texture that applied and blended easily. The one exception was a shade called Dare that was a dry and patchy and would work best as an eyeliner but aside from this the palette had a great selection of shades which packed pigment and a soft, buttery formula that applied well!

Pros

Beautiful selection of shades.
Affordable although, doesn’t contain a ton of eyeshadow per ounce.
Beautifully formulated with excellent pigmentation.

Cons

Bit irritating they are only available at Walmart.
