Have You Ever Wondered How Often Stores Stock Skincare?

Have you ever wondered how often stores stock skincare? I mean, do you think there’s some chance there’s a jar of Tatcha the Silk Cream sitting on a Sephora self, getting dusty, for the last six or more months?

These are the questions that keep me up at night.

I’ve worked in retail but I’ve never worked in a beauty retail world. Have you use? What’s the secret about skincare? There are some highly expensive potions and lotions out there and I’m wondering how long do they keep them on shelves before they ditch them for new?

Most skincare has a shelf life of six to twelve months opened but what about unopened? Do they sit on a shelf for a year just waiting to be purchased? I imagine at some point stores clear the inventory out and restock new, fresher product but how long before they do that? Likewise for fragrance! How long does a bottle of fragrance sit on a shelf before they decide that it’s reached it’s sell by time?

I have some The Ordinary products I purchased about eight months ago, unopened, sitting in my beauty closet and I’m wondering have they reached a point that I won’t see the same results as I would from a fresher bottle?

I tend to label all opened skincare with a label maker and the date I opened it. But I’m wildly curious how fresh skincare is that we purchase at stores.

What do you think?

Do you work in retail?

How often does your store remove old product and restock it with new?

Lush Hair Custard Smells Like Dessert

5 stars out of 5

Lush Hair Custard is a gorgeous vanilla and toffee scented hair dressing that smells like dessert for your hair. I never tried this until recently even though it released a few years ago! But on a whim I picked up a bottle. I think in the past I wasn’t loving the fact it was in a pot but now that its in a squeeze bottle I thought it was time to try it out.

Now it deserves to be mentioned people are ripping this apart in reviews because it appears with the new packaging there’s now a new formula and it isn’t nearly as good as it was. I can’t compare the two formulas but I can say I’m just fine and happy with Lush Hair Custard as it now is! Maybe I’d be ranting too if I loved the old formula but since I have nothing to compare it to I have to say this formula did fine by me.

My Shaving Cream Cost a Dollar and It Smells Like Summer Time

I purchased this item and I receive a small commission if you shop using the links in this post.
5 stars out of 5

You gotta dig all over Smartly Summertime Scented Shaving Foam because it’s only a buck! 99 cents to be exact! I do so love a good deal and Target’s brand Smartly has become a quick favorite of mine because they have some really affordable picks that are actually quite great.

One of my favorite products from Smartly is the Citrus Summertime scented Liquid Dish Soap and All-Purpose Cleaner! I’m convinced these smell like the Anthropologie Volcanic Orange Candle! The surface cleaner has this pretty orange-y scent that lingers well after I’ve wiped away the mess on my counters.

When Smartly started introducing the scent in a variety of different bath and body items like hand soap and this shaving cream I was quick to grab them up because hey, the price is right.

Sunday Riley Gets Positive Ruling from FTC After Two Years of False Reviews

beauty news

Sunday Riley has been posting positive reviews on websites for the last two years but there will be no FTC consequences. Surprised? So am I. News broke last year that Sunday Riley was asking employees to post fake positive reviews on websites like Sephora. In two years, not only did Sunday Riley’s employees falsify reviews at the request of management ut also the namesake founder was posting them as well.

Things were pretty technical with these reviews as employees of the brand not only created fake accounts to write these reviews but also, used a virtual private network to do so which would conceal their real IP address. To make things seem legit employees were instructed to leave reviews on other products such as makeup and other items. Employees were also instructed to dislike negative reviews on any Sunday Riley products as when enough dislikes are left Sephora removes the negative review. After the brand was exposed they issued a statement on Instagram but made no apology for their wrong doing instead blaming the fact they are a small brand that’s trying to make it.

Eventually the FTC ended up entangled in the Sunday Riley web and found them guilty of two violations for making false reviews and failing to disclose that those reviews were written by employees. But happy days for Sunday Riley as they face absolutely no consequences for their heinous behavior as the FTC simply banned from making any false reviews in the future. And if they do leave any reviews on their own products or others they need to disclose they are employees of the brand.

How do you feel about the FTC’s ruling against Sunday Riley?

I find it unjust and I think it sends the wrong messages to other brands, bloggers, and even influencers as it basically says you can pretty much get away with tricking consumers and lying to them without fear or serious consequences.

I don’t think the scandal has hurt Sunday Riley’s sales oddly enough as I still see that people get pretty excited about their latest launches.
