Tarte, Why Are you Trying To Make Shape Tape 12-Hour Eye Primer Stick a Thing

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

Tarte Shape Tape 12-Hour Eye Primer Stick launched yesterday and I was sitting here thinking, “Wait, are you guys still trying to make lid primer a thing!?” I swear Tarte must release at least two eye primers a year. They literally just launched Tarte Lid Lock Clay Eye Base a few short months ago in May.

Plus we already had the Tarte Colored Clay CC Eye Primer Stick which appears to be what the new Tarte Shape Tape 12-Hour Eye Primer Stick looks like. There are literally dozens of eye primers that Tarte has tried to make happen over the years. I mean come on guys, a little creativity here. How many eyeshadow primers do we need?

None the less, it’s a new season and Tarte Shape Tape 12-Hour Eye Primer Stick is the “latest and greatest” launch for Spring 2018. Available in a single shade this promises a 4-in-1 formula waterproof and creaseproof protection with a brightening formula that corrects as it primers and highlighters your eyes. Apparently it’ll keep your shadow wear strong for up to 12 hours.

Today, Tarte posted a mini video of a WOC wearing the single shade on Twitter and a lot of people took to calling them out on it since the fiasco with the lack of shades Double Duty Beauty Shape Tape Foundation caused quite a controversy yesterday. There are ten additional shades launching which I think Tarte had to scramble to produce after many people called them out on the serious lack of shades.

I was actually not paying attention yesterday as I was traveling, tired, and a little off my game. I wanted to apology as I did post about being interested in trying Double Duty Beauty Shape Tape Foundation but I did not address the lack of shades which was insensitive. After seeing the photos of the foundation swatches last night I realized how ridiculous the launch came across to woman of color.

Brands need to do better to say the least and I need to do better as well when discussing new base launches! Makeup is not one size fits all.

And as for Shape Tape 12-Hour Eye Primer Stick, what do you think?

Do we really need another eyeshadow primer from Tarte?

Guerlain KissKiss LoveLove Lipstick Is Adorably Korean

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

Guerlain KissKiss LoveLove Lipstick ($37) takes a note from Korea this Spring with these adorable heart-shaped lipsticks! Holika Holika Heartfull Glossy Lipstick and Kiko Endless Love Lipstick are two affordable options if you want to skip out on Guerlain’s high price tag. But will you want to is the question? I know I keep telling myself, “Well, there are a lot of Korean brands that do lipsticks like this…” But some illogical part of my brand is like, “But its Guerlain…!”

And that pink case though….!

Available in two shades Guerlain KissKiss LoveLove Lipstick provides luminous, satiny color with a built-in primer that provides smooth, soft color.

Shades:

  • Beige
  • Coral

I’ll try hard to resist but I can’t make any promises.

Guerlain KissKiss LoveLove Lipstick is available now at nordstrom.com and sephora.com.

Tarte Maneater Eyeshadow Palette Volume 2 Looking A Lot Like The Original!?

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

Tarte Maneater Eyeshadow Palette Vol 2 will confuse you beyond belief or maybe just trick you up a little. If you missed the original Maneater Eyeshadow Palette you might be happy to see that there’s a new Volume 2 Eyeshadow Palette available now.

Yay!

Kind of yay but not really yay.

You see, I had the wool pulled over my eyes earlier last month when I purchased the Tarte Clay Play Face Shaping Palette II which essentially was almost identical to the original Clay Play Face Shaping Palette. Y u want to confuse me so much Tarte!? Needless to say I was somewhat irritated about the similarities between the two palettes. There’s like what two different shades in II compared to the original!? What the hell?

That’s why I’m a little upset Maneater Eyeshadow Palette Vol 2 is essentially the same as the original aside from some minor changes.

Tarte Double Duty Beauty Shape Tape Foundation Breaks the Internet Today

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

Tarte Double Duty Beauty Shape Tape Foundation launched today in a hydrating and matte finish today and the beauty world is going absolutely bonkers over this launch. Considering the popularity and success of Tarte Shape Tape Concealer it only makes sense to launch a foundation right? Too Faced did it with Born this Way Foundation and Born this Way Concealer and Urban Decay did it with All Nighter Foundation and Concealer so, why not Tarte with Shape Tape? When you have a hot, successful product on your hands the next logical step is to cash in on that success and bring out a product that will be hopefully as much loved as the original release.

I think sequels are generally bad be it a movie or a makeup release. I know many, many people rave Born This Way Concealer but I didn’t like it and didn’t feel like it was half as good as the foundation. I’m expecting great, great things from Tarte Double Duty Beauty Shape Tape Foundation and I hope it doesn’t disappoint. I love they took the initiative to release this in not one but two formulations. I have drier skin and thankfully with proper prepping Shape Tape Concealer works great for me even though it is quite matte. But I’m not sure I’d like such a finish all over my face which is is why I’m pleased their is a Double Duty Beauty Shape Tape Hydrating Foundation and a Double Duty Beauty Shape Tape Matte Foundation for either drier or oily skin.

Let’s take a look!
